Ode to Books
A RAP, Really-Awful Poem
By Cat Michaels

Books!
How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.
Hmmm: Thrice: A book, is a book, is a book.

Alas, I could not read them on a boat
....I get sea sick.

Nor on a goat
....I am a city girl.  I only do goat cheese.

But I read books here and there.

I love reading almost everywhere
Using all kinds of clever devices
Which take away my breath and suffices
   as my brain's creative spices.
Picture

Books in print are longtime pals
Ever since elementary school locales.

Dick and Jane started it all.
Then the Grinch and Nancy Drew as I grew tall.

via GIPHY

Now it's sci-fi.
Mysteries.
Historical fiction.

But JK's HP is still my addiction.
Picture
I love books most when they talk to me.
BookLoversDay_catmichaelswriter.com

In fact ...

books even
walk
with me!

Earbuds,
sweat,
and all.

Tablet reading!

You turn me on
when
I plug you in.

Your font and light controls are awesome.

You make my book world spin.

And what delight to share tablet prose
With that special little one who knows that
Reading a great kidlit story
makes life way more hunky-dory.

I am a

librocubicularist.

No way I can rhyme it,
so I'll just say instead...

I love to read in bed!

Tis quite peculiar-ist.

Your post made me smile the whole way through, Cat! Very clever. And thank you for teaching me a new word: Librocubicularist. Who knew I was one of those, too?!

Hi Cat! I enjoyed your post today for Book Lovers Day, August 9th!
That's a cute rap and I like how "books walk with you!"
I too am a "librocubicularist" but I have been known to read about anywhere!

Happy Book Lovers Day!

Rosie, I love finding different reading spots, but like you, my fave is night-time reading in bed.

Hi Cat!

I didn't know one was allowed to rap on Book Lover's Day. Let me drop a line below:

Book reading is not dangerous
And might just make you delirious
But it does get contagious
When You get with Us on Book Lover's Day.

Happy Book Lovers Day!

I agree, Carmela: falling asleep is a Librocubicularist's biggest obstacle to finishing a book -:D.

Hi Cat, you commented after reading my book lovers day blog that you didn't think you were as much a bookaholic as I am, however after reading your RAP, I believe the proof is in the pudding. You read in bed and even when you are walking. Sounds like a bookaholic to me! It was fun reading. :)

Hey there Cat -
I loved your RAP!
From Dick and Jane
To Seussical fame.
Hardbacks, kindles, tablets in the mix,
So many ways to get a reading fix!
Not only are you a libro-cubi-cularist,
You are also a creative vocab-u-neologist!

Thanks for the fun!!
Happy Book Lovers Day!

Appreciate your feedback, Carol. It took awhile, but it was fun to write because it was a differnt style, and I didn't worry about being grammtically correct.

Hey, give yourself a whole lot more credit! Your words were awesome! I smiled and snickered throughout! It was pure delight! I love being completely immersed in a fictional book where nothing else exists except the books characters and surroundings. I don't see, hear or notice anything else. That is my favorite type of reading!
