Ode to Books

a R*A*P, Really-Awful Poem

BOOKS!
How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.
Hmmm: Cat least thrice:
A book, is a book, is a book.

Alas, I could not read them on a boat
....I get sea sick.

Nor on a goat
....I am a city girl. I only do goat cheese.

But I read books
... here and there.

Cat's TBR stash

Actually, I
love reading almost everywhere

Using all kinds
of clever devices

Which take away my breath
and suffices

as my brain's
creative spices.

Books in print are longtime pals
Ever since elementary school locales.

Dick and Jane started it all.
Then on to Dr. Seusss and Nancy Drew
as I grew tall.

Thanks! We are pretty excited for Book Lovers Day! My younger daughter has been writing her own books as well, and she is becoming quite the illustrator! I knew if I gave my girls a chance within my books to illustrate, that they'd really take off, and I was right. She's not so great with the writing and grammar though, so her book will probably take me much longer to edit. In any case, it's a start!

Reading so many great books,
But never on boats or goats,
Preferring private and special hidden nooks.

Hi Cat,
Your new and improved rap is great,
perhaps poetry is now your fate.
Living in the country I will read near a goat,
but as it's winter I need a warm coat.
I like to read historical fiction,
although middle grade can be quite an addiction.
Thanks for the challenge, this has been fun,
I'll say goodbye now, that's it, I'm done.

Hello Cat,
If my mother were still alive and my kids were still small (or there were great-grands living yet), I am sure my mother would be happy to send over several of your books! :) Having just unpacked the last few moving boxes of books into our big bookcases, I sat and read (from 1:00am - 2:00am) a few favorite stories my kids loved to have read to them... Those dog stories are still some of my favorites.

Like your R*A*P! Oh, the Places You Will Go when reading books... I still love Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series all these years later, but my favorites these days are historical fiction, biographies, and mysteries.

Barbara, hat’s off to you for being a true bibliophile. Cannot imagine all those boxes of books to unpack, but what fun opening them and discovering old friends from back when your kids were little. Haha 😆 I still love your RAP! I will say you have encouraged me to want to give audio books a try. I have never done so but there have been some that I’ve read I can imagine would be epic to hear. I think I will be giving that a go this year as I will have my arms twice as full soon.

You should def try audio, Carmela, with or without earbuds, depending on little ones’ nap schedules. My friends do Audible, and I use the OverDrive app to connect with my local library to check out MP3 audiobooks for free. Thanks for R*A*P-ing with me‼️

Love meeting fellow book addicts. Lol I adore my Kindle but I haven't been able to get into audio books. I always want to go back and read my favorite parts and I can't in that. Hahaha If I had a long commute, I would probably be broke.

Thanks for visiting, Rebecca -:D. I use my tablet mostly when I cannot get an audiobook. And it is harder to find a favorite passage on audio unless you quickly add a bookmark to the spot. btw...I download my audiobooks for free from my library, or else I’d be broke listening to books, too!
