Thanks for taking Sweet T and her family into your home and hearts as she made her debut these past weeks.
I'm taking time off to enjoy family and friends during this busy season. But I'll be back at it in the new year ... polishing a book for a spring 2014 release featuring T's youngest sister, Jenna: Finding Fuzzy: tale of a lost BFF. Wishing you and yours the peace and happiness of the season. Catch you in 2014! Many legendary authors have gotten into the spirit of the season by writing holiday-themed books. CBC Books created a quiz featuring quotes from five classic holiday tales.
I answered all but one correctly. Not surprisingly, my Editor/Spouse nailed all of ‘em. How many quotes can you match to the correct story and author? Click to take the quiz here. Sweet T is ready for her close up…again!
In addition to YouTube, her book trailer is now featured on social media sites run by Shadow Puppet — the mobile app developer that created the application we used for making the trailer. To check out Shadow Puppet's 18 Dec. blog post, click here. Or find T’s trailer on Facebook here. How cool is that!!! Thought you’d enjoy this twist on a Christmas tale written by an 11-year-old reader and blogger, Erik Weibel. Erik entered a contest for writing a children's story about a holiday mishap, mix-up, miscommunication, mistake, or potential disaster that was not to exceed 350 words. Don't you think its very cool! To read the story on Erik's 12 Dec. post, click here. Still need a holiday gift for that middle grade reader? Maybe one who doesn't get into books that much? This adventure yarn by Nikki Bennett will be FREE for five days - beginning 20 December - on Amazon here. Have you ever noticed how music uplifts and influences our emotions and sense of well-being? As a choral singer, I've experienced music's power many times. You too?
This video shows how music affects people during the holiday crush. The segment with the little girl playing chopsticks is precious. I must figure out how to incorporate musical skills in a character for my next book! Does the trailer give you a better idea of T's story? What do you think in general about writers posting trailers to sites like You Tube? We used a new mobile app, Shadow Puppet, to create the trailer. This app has potential in many arenas....education, entertainment, and family use. What is your impression or the app? Might you find a use for it? Tis the season for annual "best" lists. This one from Buzzfeed.com --- funniest notes written by kids in 2013 --- made me smile (even the writing coach in me overlooked the misspellings). Hope it brings you smiles, too, when you click here. Big learning curve this week...I'm making a book trailer for Sweet T and the North Wind. My young narrator is meeting with me this weekend to add her voice to my script and Irene's illustrations. We're using an IOS mobile app, Shadow Puppet, to create a 60-second trailer on an iPad. Gotta love technology! |
